Terms & Conditions1. Sessions are offered at an agreed upon time with the student, the tutor, and Ottawa Tutoring. Each session is limited to no more than the agreed upon number of students. 2. Private in-person tutoring is offered at a standard rate of $60 per hour. Private virtual tutoring is offered at a standard rate of $50 per hour. Discounts are available when hours are purchased in packages. All packages are non-refundable and expire 1 year from the date of purchase. 3. Homework Club is offered at a standard rate of $80 per two hour session. Homework Club time slots can be reserved online through an account provided by Ottawa Tutoring. 4. Lesson fees from sessions booked through our Online Booking System are non-refundable, but can be moved to a different day/time with 12 hours notice. 5. All tutoring sessions will be conducted at the client's home, the Ottawa Tutoring Tutor Centre, or another location that has been agreed upon by the client and the tutor. 6. All students and tutors are expected to comply with Ottawa Tutoring's health and safety measures. ​ 7. For tutoring at the client's home, students under 16 years of age must have a parent, guardian, or designated individual (over the age of 18) in the house at all times. If there is no parent/guardian present, Ottawa Tutoring reserves the right to withhold any services until the parent/guardian is present. Ottawa Tutoring will charge a fee (not surpassing the cost of the lesson) if the tutor shows up at the agreed upon time and a parent/guardian is not present. ​ 8. For tutoring at the Ottawa Tutoring Tutor Centre, students under 13 years of age must be accompanied to, and picked up from, the Tutor Centre by a parent, guardian, or designated individual. When the student is to be picked up by someone else, Ottawa Tutoring must be notified when the student arrives. ​ 9. Ottawa Tutoring believes success is based on consistency and determination therefore regular attendance is required. Sessions must be cancelled 12 hours in advance or the full fee for the session will be charged. ​ 10. If the full payment is not received within 30 days of the invoice date, a fee of $20.00 will be applied to the account in addition to 1.5% interest per month. Should the account become delinquent and require collection, the client will be responsible for Ottawa Tutoring's related costs. ​ 11. The client allows Ottawa Tutoring to charge his/her credit card or preferred payment method for the amount shown on the bi-weekly or monthly invoice(s). ​ Ottawa Tutoring takes pride in providing quality education for students. SERVICE ANIMALS AND SUPPORT PERSONS We welcome individuals with disabilities and their service animals. Service animals are allowed on the parts of our premises that are open to the public. We also welcome individuals who are accompanied by a support person. Any person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to enter the Company's premises with his or her support person. Fees will not be charged for support persons. ​ 6. NOTICE OF TEMPORARY DISRUPTION Should a temporary disruption occur we will notify individuals promptly. This notice will be clearly posted and will include information about the reason for the disruption, the anticipated duration and a description of alternative facilities or services, if available. In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to services or facilities for those with disabilities, we will provide prompt notification by way of: Telephone, e-mail, poster on the front door and in reception. E-mail will be sent to staff so they can communicate to those affected. 7. TRAINING FOR STAFF & OTHERS Training will be provided to all Company emplpyees, agents and/or contractors who deal with the public that act on behalf of the Company. As reflected in Ontario Regulation 429/07, regardless of the format, training will cover the following: An overview of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the requirements of the customer service standard Our plan related to the customer service standard Video "Service-Ability: Transforming Ontario's Customer" How to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities How to interact with people with disabilities who use an assistive device or require the assistance of a service animal or a support person What to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty in accessing our services Staff will also be trained when changes are made to the plan Training will also be provided to new employees, agents and/or contractors who deal with the public or act on our behalf during orientation. Revised training will be provided in the event of changes to legislation, procedures and/or practices. The Company will keep a record of training that includes the dates training was provided and the number of employees who attended the training. ​ 8. How long are the lessons?We're flexible on that too! For in-person lessons, the minimum lesson length is 1 hour. We are also happy to meet in-person for 1.5 hours, 2 hours, or even 3 hours. For virtual lessons, the minimum length for a lesson is 30 minutes. We always recommend scheduling at least an hour though so that you can get all of your questions answered!

Should I schedule a weekly time or book as I go?Totally up to you! Most students choose to schedule lessons on a weekly basis because it ensures they have a tutoring session every week to ask questions, tackle problems, and have difficult concepts explained to them. It also ensures that they have the same tutor each time. Get ready for stellar marks when you choose weekly sessions! Booking as-you-go is a great way to get help when you need it. Just be sure you schedule in advance as times fill up fast.

How do I schedule a private lesson?To schedule a session please email info@ottawa-tutoring.com or call (613) 230-9675. We will match you with a tutor who is familiar with your course and can meet you at your desired location (either in-person or online). You can also use our Online Booking Tool to schedule a virtual lesson with one of our tutors.

Where will the lesson take place?You choose! We will do our best to meet at whatever location is most convenient for you. We can come to your home, meet at a nearby public library, or have the lesson at our Tutor Centre. We are also happy to meet virtually in our Online Lesson Space. You will be sent a direct link to your private virtual classroom and your tutor will meet you there!

How do I schedule virtual lessons?Send us an email and we would be happy help set up your ideal tutoring schedule! If you need to book a lesson quickly, we also have our Online Booking Tool which allows you to choose a tutor, see their availability, and book a spot with them right away!

How does virtual tutoring work?We have a virtual classroom that is designed specifically for tutoring. There is the ability to share notes, screen share, a virtual whiteboard, and video and audio. You will receive a link to your own private classroom 24 hours prior to the lesson time and your tutor will meet you there when the lesson starts.

How can I register for Homework Club?Login to your Ottawa Tutoring account and browse available Homework Club sessions in the calendar. When you decide on one that works best for you, register for the session directly in your account.

Do I have to attend the full two hours?Homework Club is designed to be a space where you can independently study and ask questions as needed. We recommend attending for the full two hours to give yourself the opportunity to get as much studying done as possible. That being said, if you only want to drop in for an hour or 90 minutes, that's okay too! Please note that you still have to register online for the full two hour block time.

How often can I attend?As often as you'd like! Feel free to register for as many Homework Club sessions as you'd like. You could even attend them back to back if you wanted a longer study session.

Do I have to have homework to attend?Not necessarily! A lot of students choose to use Homework Club as a place to effectively study before an upcoming test or just to review school work from the day or week.

Are packages refundable?Due to the discount that they provide, all packages are non-refundable. The hours will remain on your account for one year from the date of purchase and can be used for any subject within that time period.

How do payments work?There are two options for payments: 1) You can purchase packages of hours in advance and use them up throughout the semester. Best of all, we offer the packages at a discount. We will alert you your package is running low so know to buy a new package. You can also monitor your package balance in your Ottawa Tutoring account. 2) You can pay-as-you-go and we will send invoices to your email on a bi-weekly basis. We will automatically charge the credit card on file and you will only be charged for the lessons that took place in the two week period prior. This way, you don't ever need to worry about payments!

Can I pay cash?We unfortunately don't accept cash. Since our tutors are so busy and teaching all over the city, it can get difficult to keep track of all the cash payments. We keep everything online to make sure all transactions are recorded and tracked accurately. Thank you for your understanding!
