Hello, my name is Alex, I’m a 3rd year Astrophysics student minoring in Biology at Carleton university. I’ve been mentoring Math & Physics at the university level for over 2 years now. My passion for learning emerged during high school when going through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. I’ve developed a learning approach primarily driven by curiosity. It includes filling in prerequisite gaps, and finding an array of resources to help develop a more wholesome knowledge of a subject: good textbooks, articles, visual videos, and interactive websites. It also emphasizes tying STEM knowledge back into reality, which entails exploring the applications behind each topic, either in the real world or later in more advanced topics. Overall I’m a very curious and active person, I love anything with movement, especially in nature: rock-climbing, backpacking, running, biking, and yoga. I also really enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, writing, guitar, language learning, and philosophizing about life. My goal is to help you move past any roadblocks in a subject, establish necessary study skills (note-taking, finding good resources, and absorbing knowledge), in addition to deepening your curiosity about the subject.
